From Our Worship Pastor…
One of the more prevalent practices in contemporary worship is to design and plan services like rock concerts. Worship centers are dark with bright lights on the “stage performers.” While this format produces cool modern concerts, it isn’t actually conducive to congregational singing. In fact, it encourages the congregation to sit back and be entertained by the professionals up front.
Our approach at First Baptist Church of St John is to attempt to combine the beauty of both the hymns of the past and the praise and worship songs of today. We attempt to use songs that are accessible to most people so they can sing and worship together. Our over-arching goal each Sunday is to engage everyone present in true worship that touches their hearts and moves them to experience the Savior and God who brings us together. If we lift Him up in our hearts, then not only we but others present will be drawn to Jesus. Come worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. To Him alone be the glory!
